Organisation of Free Thais set up abroad

BANGKOK, June 24 (TNA) - A group of persons who oppose a coup staged by the Thai army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) on May 22, 2014 has set up the Organisation of Free Thais for Human Rights and Democracy (FT-HD) abroad, led by Thailand exiled ex-interior minister Charupong Ruangsuwan. On the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of Thailand's revolutionary change from the absolute monarchy to the democratic rule on June 24, Charupong, who is also former leader of the Pheu Thai Party, posted a video clip on his Facebook page on Tuesday, announcing the establishment of the FT-HD, which opposes and rejects the NCPO's national administrative power. In the first statement, Charupong, in his capacity as the FT-HD Secretary-General, said that the FT-HD will be the centre of Thai people from all sectors who uphold democracy and human rights and want to fight to achieve the ideological goals in their motherland. Charupong has not reported himself to the NCPO, as ordered, and has, instead, left Thailand to stay at a foreign country. So far, no NCPO authorities have publicly responded to the FT-HD movement.
