Organizing Committee Of Sail Komodo To Hold Meeting In Kupang

Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, April 15 (Antara) - The national organizing committee of Sail Komodo 2013 is to hold a meeting here on Tuesday (April 16) to discuss preparations for the planned international maritime event. "The meeting will be chaired by Chairman of the Sail Komodo Organizing Committee Syarif Cicip Sutardjo, who is concurrently Indonesia`s maritime affairs and fisheries minister," Frans Salem, the committee`s secretary, said here on Monday. The event is expected to help promote the country`s marine tourism potentials to become international tourist destinations, he said. The theme of Sail Komodo, which will be officially launched by Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono, is "Sail Komodo 2013: The Golden Bride Towards East Nusa Tenggara As The World`s Major Tourist Destination". "The peak event of Sail Komodo will be implemented on September 14, 2013 in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai District, East Nusa Tenggara Province," he said. Foreign countries expected to participate in the event include Malaysia, Australia, the Netherlands, Thailand, the Philippines, and the United States. "Sail Komodo 2013 is an effort to promote Komodo National Park as marine conservation area. It`s also expected to help boost the region`s maritime economy," he said.
