OUR PARLIAMENTARIANS AT 131ST IPU ASSEMBLY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Members of the State Great Khural (parliament) Su.Batbold and G.Uyanga have taken part in the 131st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) which ran October 12-17 in Geneva, Switzerland. The Mongolian MPs met with their counterparts of Australia, Iceland and Mexico to exchange views on the bilateral relations and cooperation. They noted that agendas discussed at the IPU assembly, such as ensuring gender equality and ceasing violence against women, already have become global critical issues and that the IPU urges nations to take serious measures to tackle them. They also took part in meeting of IPU’s Steering Council, Standing committees on democracy and human rights, on peace and security, on human rights of parliamentarians, on UN affairs, on sustainable development on finance and trade. A parliamentarian from Bangladesh Saber Choudhuri was elected the new president of the IPU.
