Over 100 Thais evacuated from Libya

BANGKOK, August 5 (TNA) - Over 100 Thai nationals have been evacuated from Libya so far and more of them will leave the violence-plagued country later this week. Thai Ambassador to Libya Kittipong Na-Ranong reported on Tuesday that 111 Thai nationals have left the civil war-riddled nation as of August 4, with 92 of them departing the country on August 4 alone. Kittipong noted that officials are waiting for an evacuation confirmation from 44 other Thai citizens in Libya, including workers and three students. According to the top Thai envoy in Tripoli, Libya's capital, additional 69 Thai people are scheduled to leave Libya on August 5 and 183 others on Aug 6, but the evacuations depend on the updated situation and their safety. The top Thai envoy acknowledged, meanwhile, that the Thai Embassy in Tripoli does not stand near or at a location of any armed group; so, it faces lower risks. The top envoy revealed that there are now about five officials stationing at the Thai Embassy in Tripoli to coordinate assistance to remaining Thai nationals in Libya. (TNA)
