Over 10,000 people join marathon race to honour HM the King

Si Sa Ket, Dec 13 (TNA) - More than 10,000 Thais and foreigners early Sunday participated in a mini-half marathon race for a cup given by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at Pa Mor E-Dang in Khao Phra Viharn national park in the northeastern province of Si Sa Ket bordering Cambodia. The race held for the 19th time was officially opened by Murathati Rukchartcharoen, deputy governor of Si Sa Ket. The race was divided into three categories which included 21.10, 10.5 and three-kilometre run. Organisers said the purpose of the race was to honour His Majesty the King who celebrated his 88th birthday on December 5 and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s 60th birthday anniversary on April 2 this year. Also, the race was organised to promote tourism in the area and for the people to have an opportunity to exercise. (TNA)
