Over 1ton Drugs Confiscated In Southeastern Iran

Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA – More than one ton of drugs were confiscated in the border areas over the past two days, border guard official in charge of drugs campaign said on Monday. Brigadier General Sharafi said that the bulk of drugs were nabbed as were being smuggled into Iran. He said more than 3,590 kg drugs were annihilated at a border area over the past 48 hours. Meanwhile, Commander of Iran's Border Guard Units General Hossein Zolfaqari told reporters recently that the volume of drug seizures along Iran's borders has witnessed an eye-catching growth during the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (March 20-October 21). "We had a 44% increase in drug seizures along the country's borders," Zolfaqari said./end
