Over 30 tourists left abandoned by Chinese guide

PATTAYA, THAILAND, February 20 (TNA) - Local police have been looking for a Chinese tour guide, after she swindled and abandoned 33 tourists from China's mainland in Pattaya of Thailand's eastern seaside Chon Buri Province on Thursday night. The police told reporters on Friday morning that the 33 Chinese tourists, all of them from China’s Zhejiang Province, had reportedly bought a package tour and paid China’s 2,399 yuan each, equivalent to about 12,000 baht, and arrived in Thailand on February 16. The police said the Chinese tourists arrived in the renowned resort Pattaya City on February 18 and stayed at a hotel near the Jomtien Beach. According to the police, the 20-year-old Chinese guide demanded the tourists to pay an extra of 6,900 baht each and about 20 of them agreed, but the rest refused. The police said all the tourists were then left abandoned by the guide, who would face legal suit as she had tarnished Thailand’s image. Meanwhile, a representative of a tourist company reported to the local police the firm did not involve in the guide’s illegal action, but the company would fully take care of the group of Chinese tourists.
