Over 30,000 officials to provide security on ‘Bike for Dad’

BANGKOK, Dec 5 (TNA) - More than 30,000 soldiers and police personnel will be responsible in providing security to participants of the ‘Bike for Dad’ cycling event to be organised on December 11 nationwide celebrating His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday. Police chief Pol. Gen. Chaktip Chaichinda said about 1,000 border patrol policemen are dispatched Saturday to join with traffic policemen to provide security to the cyclists joining the event on that day. He said concerned authorities considered the ‘Bike for Dad’ event significance responsibility, therefore, border patrol policemen are recruited to help security officials. Recruited border patrol policemen will be assigned to cooperate with the people to help prevent “unexpected incidents” from occurring between December 5 – 21 because many events celebrating His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday will take place. A security rehearsal for the more than 30,000 combined police and army personnel will be held Sunday. (TNA)
