Over 900 State Hospitals in Thailand Ready to Service Infectious Patients Early 2015

BANGKOK, October 19 (TNA) - Although no Ebola patient has been found in Thailand so far, more than 900 state-run community hospitals nationwide are expected to be prepared to provide primary treatment to sufferers from infectious diseases within early 2015, according to Thailand’s Public Health Minister Dr. Rachata Rachatanavin. Dr. Rachata said while inspecting Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute in Bangkok’s neighbouring province of Nonthaburi that the Institute plus three other government-run hospitals in Bangkok, provincial hospitals and 30 other hospital centres would be ready to provide primary treatment within next month. More than 900 other community hospitals in provinces would be ready by early 2015, he said. Besides Ebola epidemic, the Public Health Ministry is closely monitoring on the new infectious disease named MERS Co-V which broke out even before Ebola, according to the public health minister. Dr. Jariya Saengsajja, director of Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, opined that her institute could presently admit between two to three Ebola patients at one time because it requires a lot of equipment and many experienced doctors to take care each patient.
