Over half of Thai youths see parents as role model in love

BANGKOK, February 11 (TNA) - With Saint Valentine’s Day right around the corner, a Bangkok Poll, conducted by Bangkok University, has found that over half of Thai youths surveyed recently saw their parents as role model in love. The survey, which was conducted among 1,161 Thai youths aged between 15 and 25 living in Bangkok and surrounding provinces, showed that 64.1 per cent of the young respondents considered their parents as role model in love. In addition, the poll showed that 53.2 per cent of the respondents said they already have a person to give a Valentine’s gift to. On ways to show their love, 31.8 per cent said they will take their lovers out for a movie, followed by 31.4 per cent who would express words of love and 30.4 per cent who would give flowers. For politicians the Thai youths want to give their red roses to, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra came top at 43.6 per cent, followed by Love Thailand Party leader and MP Chuwit Kamolvisit at 23.6 per cent and Thailand's now main opposition Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva at 20.9 per cent. Regarding how important they give to the Valentine's Day this year, 64.7 per cent of the respondents said it is as important as previous years and 8.2 per cent considered this year's Valentine is bigger than the previous ones; while 19.5 per cent said they had never given Saint Valentine's Day real importance.
