Over one million methamphetamine pills, 108 kilogrammes of crystal amphetamines seized in Thai North

CHIANG RAI, THAILAND, September 18 (TNA) – A Hmong man has been arrested after more than 1 million methamphetamine pills and 108 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine or “ice” were seized from a pickup truck in Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Rai. Police Commissioner Police General Priewpan Damapong held a press conference Tuesday to release details of the arrest of a suspected drug smuggler, identified as Veera Saeli, a Chiang Rai resident. Police General Priewpan said police received a report about the drug smuggling from Myanmar into Thailand, so they set up a checkpoint on a highway in Mae Fa Luang district Monday night. They spotted a suspicious truck on the highway but while attempting to stop the truck another smuggler, identified as Suradet Saeli, fled the scene with some narcotics. The seized drugs were found in the truck, while Veera Saeli faces a charge of possessing illegal drugs, according to the police commissioner. (TNA)
