Oyster Festival kicks off in Trang

TRANG, March 12 (TNA) - The southern province of Trang holds 2017 Oyster Festival where people can find freshest and cheapest oysters. The “11th Ban Laem Oyster Conservation Festival” takes place at Ban Laem School. At this year’s the event, some 5,000 fresh oysters harvested from the Ban Laem village’s sanctuary zone are put for sale. Prices for the oysters aged between 10 and 12 months range from just 15 to 20 baht each, which is the lowest rate in the province. Villagers are allowed to harvest oysters in this sanctuary once a year in March to prevent any negative impacts on growth and reproduction of oysters in the area. (TNA)
