Oyutolgoi training scheme proves successful again

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Over thirty local graduates celebrated Thursday a completion of their six months English training course, the OT website reported Thursday. At the graduation ceremony, attended by D.Munkh-Erdene, a Deputy Governor of Khanbogd soum, many residents praised the training that improved their future prospects in the labor market. The Oyutolgoi LLC (OT) is sponsoring the Pre-Employment support programme for the second year. It is a key part of its long-term commitment to support local socio-economic development. In 2012, the programme enrolled residents from Khanbogd soum and was this year expanded by programmes in Manlai and Bayan-Ovoo soums. OT is to offer additional programmes over the next six months that can supplement this training and provide additional skills to support Omnogobi citizens in getting meaningful employment. During the ceremony, one of last year's graduates Ms Buyandelger Tserendorj said:"During the course of six months training we studied English, preparing for interviews and job readiness trainings. The programme gave us great opportunities. I, for example, was contacted by CAML, an OT contractor, offering a document controller position, soon after my graduation." Vice president of OT LLC Mr Michael Beck said:"At OT we recognise the importance of understanding the needs of the community and its people and we firmly believe in improving the quality of life in the communities we work in. The students in this programme participated in intensive English training, as well as job readiness training. We believe this training in combination with other programmes soon to be offered will open the doors to future job opportunities and provide the participants with the confidence and motivation they require to enter the workforce." "This programme is one of important elements in OT's overall efforts to provide education and training opportunities throughout the country. OT is investing USD 126 million, or 168 billion MNT, in the vocational education system of Mongolia over five years". In addition to building new vocational education centres in Nalaikh and Dalanzadgad, OT is upgrading and expanding four existing TVET schools in Dalanzadgad, Choir, Erdenet and Darkhan with modern training equipment.
