Pact Signed On Repatriation Of Undocumented Nepali Workers

By Yuba Nath Lamsal KATHMANDU, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- International Money Express (IME) Malaysia and the Nepalese embassy in Kuala Lumpur Tuesday signed an agreement for the repatriation of undocumented Nepali migrant workers from Malaysia. The agreement was signed by the Nepalese ambassador to Malaysia Niranjan Man Singh Basnyat and IME Malaysia managing director Hem Raj Dhakal. Under the agreement, IME Malaysia will provide financial aid to at least 50 Nepali workers to buy a one-way air ticket to Kathmandu, said a press statement issued by IME here. The Nepalese government says an estimated 40,000 undocumented Nepali migrant workers are stranded in Malaysia. More than 450,000 Nepali migrant workers are currently in the Southeast Asian country. IME is Nepal's leading money transfer agency, and has a branch in Malaysia. -- BERNAMA
