Palace Of Justice, Putrajaya Opens Legal Year 2015 Tomorrow

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- The Palace of Justice, Putrajaya will hold its Legal Year 2015 Opening ceremony at the Finance Ministry Complex here on Saturday. The Malaysian Federal Court, chief registrar's office said in a statement Friday, that the annual ceremony would begin with a procession by judges of the Federal Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, judicial officers, officers from the Attorney General's Chambers and lawyers. Chief Justice of Malaysia Arifin Zakaria, Court of Appeal President Md Raus Sharif, Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin and Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Richard Malanjum are expected to attend. Also participating in the procession will be Attorney General Abdul Gani Patail, Malaysian Bar Council president Christopher Leong and representatives of the bar councils of Australia, Brunei, Myanmar, Germany, Singapore, and Law Asia. The legal tradition was started in England during the middle ages, in which the judges would participate in a procession and later adjourn to a party known as the 'Lord Chancellor’s Breakfast'.
