Palestine Ambassador Wants Malaysia To Continue Support For People In Gaza

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- Palestine Ambassador in Malaysia, Dr Anwar al-Agha urged Malaysians to be united in their support for Palestinians in Gaza. "We count on Malaysia to always support Palestinians because in the name of Allah we share Islam and al-Aqsa Mosque. Since I am from Gaza, I know their feeling right now and I know the sorrow of seeing their kids and relatives being killed by the Zionist regime," he told Bernama after launching the 'Love For Palestine' programme, here Sunday. Anwar also expressed gratitude toward the Malaysia government, non governmental organisations (NGOs) and people who stood for the Palestinians' right and openly against Israel. Earlier, Anwar received donations for Palestinians worth US$18,877 (RM60,000) from six NGOs namely: Healthy Citizen Club Malaysia, Malaysia Pakistan Community Association, Association of Marketing and Publicity Deals Malaysia, Association of Parents and Children Cancer Malaysia, Association for Children of Independence Malaysia and Pakistan Women's Economic Development Corporation Malaysia. Love For Palestine is a programme oraganised by the NGOs to show concern and love of Malaysians to the Palestinians. On another note, The Palestinian Cultural Organisation Malaysia (PCOM), on behalf of the Palestinian people, expressed sadness over the tragic crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in Ukraine last Thursday which killed all 298 passengers and crew members. "While words fail to convey the deep sadness we feel for this tragic incident, we express our solidarity with the bereaved families who lost their loved ones", it said in a statement issued here Sunday. "We pray for them to be granted patience and steadfastness, as we pray for Malaysia to overcome this tough time with a strong will as it has always been doing," it added. It said Malaysia, despite their grief over the plane tragedy, has once again proven that they are true champions of the Palestinian right, and has courageously stood by the Palestinian people who are currently being targeted by Israel in Gaza, Palestine. -- BERNAMA
