Papuan Governor Invites President To Inaugurate Border Post

JAKARTA, March 23 (Antara) - Papua Governor Lukas Enembe has invited President Joko Widodo to inaugurate the Integrated Border Post in Skouw, Jayapura, Papua province. "We have reported the political situation in Papua, and we have invited the president to come to Papua to inaugurate several government projects, one of which is the border post worth Rp169 billion," Lukas said here on Wednesday. Widodo has ordered the construction of seven border posts based on the presidential instruction on the acceleration of seven integrated trans-boundary posts and infrastructure support in border areas. The seven integrated border posts are located in West Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, and Papua provinces. In West Kalimantan, the posts are Aruk in Sambas district, Entikong in Sanggau district, and Badau in Kapuas Hulu. Meanwhile, the border posts in East Nusa Tenggara province consist of Motaain in Belu district, Motomasin in Malaka district, and Wini in North Timor Tengah district. In Papua, the border post located in Skouw, Jayapura, Papua province, is scheduled to be inaugurated after April 9, 2017. Lukas also explained the stance of the Papua provincial administration regarding Freeport. "Since April 19, 2013, we have placed our requests, of which there are six issues similar to those asserted by the central government. One of this is regarding the 51 percent shares for Freeport to become our employees," the governor noted. He added that the whole economic potential should be controlled by the state, and therefore, 51 percent of the Freeport's shares should be given to Indonesia. "We have asked for 10 percent shares for Papua out of the 51 percent," Lukas noted. "The president agreed to all our demands regarding Freeport, because they are in line with the central government. We will be doing whatever is approved by the president," Lukas revealed.
