Parade of Russian and Chinese Navies marks end of "Joint Sea 2015 II" drills

VLADIVOSTOK, August 28. /TASS/. The parade of Russia’s and China’s Navies in the Peter the Great Gulf near Vladivostok has marked the end of military drills "Joint Sea 2015 II". "The flagship of the Russian Pacific Fleet - Guard Missile Cruiser Varyag - and a wake column of Russian and Chinese ships have gone along reciprocal tracks. All ships of the Russia and Chinese sides that participated in the drills took part in the ceremony, along with Chinese and Russian carrier-based helicopters and naval aircraft of the Pacific Fleet," a press service representative for the Western Military District Roman Martov said. The active phase of military exercise was held on August 24-27. A total of 22 ships and vessels, up to 20 jets and helicopters, more than 500 marines and 40 units of equipment participated in the drills. They trained to perform anti-sabotage, anti-mine and anti-ship tasks in the Peter the Great Bay since August 23 with participation of Chinese aviation and Russia’s Pacific Fleet aircraft. The first Joint Sea naval exercise was held in April 2012. In July 2013, ships, planes, helicopters and amphibious soldiers of the two countries took part in a new Joint Sea exercise.
