Parsian Orchestra to perform Baroque, Rococo music

TEHRAN,Aug.27(MNA) -- The Parsian Orchestra, an Iranian string ensemble, plans to perform pieces from the Baroque and Rococo periods. A repertoire of pieces by French composer Louis Couperin, German composer Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Italian composers Giuseppe Baldassare Sammartini, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, and Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni will be performed at concerts entitled “La Folia”, conductor Aidin Ahmadinejad said in a press release on Monday. The concerts will be held at Tehran’s Rudaki Hall on September 4 and 5. Ahmadinejad said that the orchestra has received invitations to perform concerts in a number of countries. “Since we need a large amount of money to cover foreign programs, the orchestra is not able to accept these invitations due to a lack of necessary funds,” he added. “Therefore, we try to boost our programs in the country,” he stated. Parsian organized “The Night of Beethoven” at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall in July. The orchestra performed a wide repertoire of Beethoven’s works at two concerts, which were part of the program. Baroque is a period of artistic style and movement that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce works in all forms of art. It was developed following the Renaissance, extending roughly from 1600 to 1750. Rococo, which is also referred to as “Late Baroque”, is an 18th-century artistic movement and style.
