Participation in Municipal Election is Legal Right for Every Citizen - Brig. Al-Khulaifi

Doha, January 10 (QNA) - The Supervisory Committee on the Central Municipal Council fifth elections' Executive Committee has confirmed that the initial practical stage of the electoral process will begin in January. Chairman of the Supervisory Committee Brig. Majid Ibrahim Al-Khulaifi said the first stage will be the registration of voters in 29 constituencies in various parts of the State, through Metrash 2 service, the Interior Ministry Web site on the Internet or through constituencies. Brig. Al-Khulaifi called on citizens who meet the conditions of the right to vote to register in lists of voters through Metrash 2 service or by showing up at their constituencies as of Sunday,11 January 2014. He also urged citizens to interact positively with the electoral process and be keen to participate in decision-making through the election of a suitable candidate capable of contributing to the achievement of the comprehensive development taking place in the State. Voter shall be an original Qatar or acquired the Qatari nationality 15 years ago, and shall not be under the age of eighteen calendar years, not have been convicted in a case involving a breach of honor or trust, unless he has been rehabilitated, shall be a resident in the electoral district in which he has the right to vote and shall not be a member of the armed forces or the police.
