Pengasih, Oman Collaborate in Special Programme for Addicts

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Drug rehabilitation organisation Pengasih Malaysia (Pengasih) has extended its rehabilitation and treatment for addicts in collaboration with Oman and Middle East countries. Its president Datuk Mohd Yunus Pathi said that last year, the Oman government had sent its officers to Malaysia to undergo a three to six months training to adopt Pengasih rehabilitation models there. The organisation had trained participants from various countries, including Indonesia, Maldives, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Afrika Selatan, Jepun, Korea and several European countries. Pengasih had also worked together with international and domestic agencies, including the National Anti-Drug Agency, health ministry, Colombo Plan (Drug Advisory Programme), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, World Federation of Therapeutic Communities, Japan International Cooperation Agency and foreign anti-narcotics agencies. The organisation has rehabilitated 5,425 addicts since it was formed 22 years ago. -- BERNAMA
