People With HIV/AIDS Not Discriminated

Jayapura, Papua, Aug 14 (Antara) - The people with HIV/AIDS in Papua province will not be discriminated, stated the Papua Health Department Chief Aloysius Giyai. "Health Minister Nafsiah Mboi has been given misleading information about discrimination against people with HIV/AIDS in Papua," Aloysius noted here on Thursday. He remarked that the information was not true, and in reality, the people infected with HIV/AIDS in the province have not been discriminated until now, and this practice will be followed even in future. "Discrimination against the people with HIV/AIDS in Papua is a human rights violation. If it really happens then the local health department will be blamed," he remarked. He revealed that the Jayapura city administration will soon build a special hospital for the treatment of HIV/AIDS patients in the province. "The hospital for HIV/AIDS patients belongs to the Jayapura city administration, and the groundbreaking will start in 2014," Aloysius remarked. According to Aloysius, the Papua provincial administration also plans to build a general and maternity hospital in Jayapura, but the construction work will commence after the HIV/AIDS hospital has been built.
