People invited to worship Buddha's relics during Buddhism Week

BANGKOK, May 18 (TNA) - People from all walks of life have been invited to worship Buddha's relics, borrowed from the Royal Palace to be temporarily installed at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground, during the Buddhism Week from May 18-24 marking the Visakha Bucha Day 2013, which falls on May 24. Deputy Bangkok Governor Amorn Kijchawengkul today presided over a ceremony to temporarily install the Buddha's relics, which are personally owned and lent by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, for the public worships, from 10am-9pm, during the ongoing Buddhism Week, which is jointly organized by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration or BMA, the Centre on the Promotion of Buddhism in Thailand and Buddhism networks, aimed to pay tribute to His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on the occasion of Their Majesties the King and Queen's 86th and 81st birthday anniversary respectively this year. The Buddha's Relics will be returned to the Royal Palace on May 25. Other activities during the ongoing Buddhism Week include an event marking the 26th century of the world's Visakha Bucha day, as well as Buddhist sermons, an alms giving ceremony to 231 monks and a Buddhist ceremony, Wian Tian, on Visakha Bucha Day. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is scheduled to preside over a ceremony to inaugurate the Buddhism Week this afternoon. (TNA)
