People urged to use ”M-Help Me” application to ease traffic congestion in Bangkok

BANGKOK, March 26 (TNA) - Thailand's Metropolitan Police Bureau, in cooperation with the private sector and the civil society, is campaigning for motorists and commuters to use a newly-developed ”M-Help Me” application on their smart phones to avoid and ease traffic jams in Bangkok. The Metropolitan Police Bureau announced the main objectives of the recently-launched ”M-Help Me” application at a press conference, held in Bangkok on Wednesday with the Business of Services and Combination Products Trade Association, saying that only about 200,000 people have used the advanced technology so far. Calling on the public to actively participate in the campaign to help ease, and expectedly solve eventually, the problem of traffic congestion in the city, Business of Services and Combination Products Trade Association Chairman Prasit Jeawkok, who develops the ”M-Help Me” application, invited motorists and commuters to widely download the online innovation on their smart phones, acknowledging that they can also use the application to help report and provide tip-offs concerning traffic problems and conditions, as well as unlawful acts or incidents in specific areas in the capital through either video clips, photos or written messages, or even to express their appreciation to the performance of any police officer or team. According to the Metropolitan Police Bureau and the Business of Services and Combination Products Trade Association, users of the ”M-Help Me” application can also access to the close-circuit television CCTV system of the Traffic Police Division to check traffic conditions of their targeted areas on the real time basis in order to make their best choices of travelling routes.
