Permanent Population Committee Signs Agreement with Qatar University

Doha, September 12 (QNA) - Permanent Population Committee (PPC) signed an agreement with Qatar University (QU) to promote the joint cooperation means in implementing research programs, organizing forums and conferences related to population issues and other related projects. From PPC's side, the agreement was signed by PPC Vice Chairman Sultan Ali Al Kuwari and from Dr. Mariam Ali Sultan Al Ali Al Maadeed, QU Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies. The agreement provides for establishing a coordination office between both parties to exchange technical expertise, consultancy and training and organize joint conferences, forums, debates and workshops. The agreement also provides for organizing joint exhibitions in aim to enrich knowledge, providing technical training for QU students and running researches and studies to promote the knowledge base to meet the needs of society. The agreement also includes implementing and evaluating policies and programs to support scientific research in Qatar and other areas seen as necessary to meet both parties' mutual goals. Dr. Mariam Ali Sultan Al Ali Al Maadeed said the agreement is a forward step in cooperation and coordination between national entities to build a modern and successful population policy that is based on updated researches that analyzes the demographic reality and determine its current and future social and economic requirement. It also balances between those requirements and principles of sustainable development and the preservation of the environment and its resources. The PPC said the agreement reflects its keenness to implement program targeted at merging population issues in social, health, educational, information, cultural and environmental fields, and part of the comprehensive development plans and to benefit from the cooperation and open wider horizons that help reach different sectors of society. It also recognizes the work and role of PPC in achieving plans related to the process of population development in the country, implementing programs related to balanced population growth aimed at achieving sustainable development and achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
