Persian Gulf is safe: IRGC commander

Isfahan, April 20, IRNA – Deputy Navy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionˈs Guards Corps (IRGC) Ali-Reza Tangsiri said on Sunday that the Persian Gulf region is safe thanks to the appropriate cooperation among its littoral states and powerful presence of the Iranian naval force. Speaking in a ceremony to unveil the first simulation system of high speed boats made by IRGC experts, the commander said Iran’s powerful presence and its cooperation with its neighboring states in the Persian Gulf has kept pirates away from regional waters. Tangsiri said that IRGC naval force has a full control over the country’s 275 km water border from north of the Persian Gulf down to the Hormuz Strait and Chabahar in southeastern Iran. Presence of foreign warships in the Persian Gulf waters would only be against the regional states.
