Peru, Thailand sign four deals

BANGKOK, October 5 (TNA) - Peru and Thailand have signed four agreements in Bangkok, aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries. The agreements were signed on Saturday in witness by Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso, who is in Bangkok for an official visit from October 4-5, and Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. The agreements involve a transfer of their citizens committing criminal offences in either country, cooperation between nuclear technology agencies of both countries, the promotion of private investment and close cooperation between the Peruvian and Thai public health ministries. After signing the agreements, Thai Public Health Minister Dr. Pradit Sintavanarong told journalists that the health cooperation will encourage health experts of both countries to exchange knowledge on diseases preventive measures, especially on AIDS. Earlier in the day, the visiting Peruvian President conferred with Thai Education Minister Chaturon Chaisang and rectors or representatives from Thai universities on ways to promote education cooperation between the two countries, during which an agreement on offering scholarships to Peruvian and Thai students was also signed. The Peruvian President then attended a meeting with prominent Thai business operators on ways to promote bilateral trade and investment between the two vcountries. (TNA)
