Peru's President visits Thailand Oct 4-5

BANGKOK, September 28 (TNA) - Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand from October 4-5, 2013 as the guest of the Thai government, before he travels to Bali, Indonesia, for the 21st APEC CEO Summit. It will be the fourth visit to Thailand by a Peruvian president after both countries established their diplomatic relations in 1965, showing close relations between Bangkok and Lima. The forthcoming trip to Bangkok by the Peruvian top leader also shows that Thailand is an important partner of Peru in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and reflects the growth of relations between Thailand and Latin America, which Thailand values, as the Thai Kingdom sees the interdependence between countries on different banks of the Pacific Ocean as a key fundamental for the future of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). During his stay in Thailand, the Peruvian President will be granted an audience with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and will also meet the Thai prime minister, the Thai parliament president and representatives of Thai private and educational sectors.
