Phuket Airport to open new terminal Feb 5

BANGKOK, February 1 (TNA) - A new terminal at Phuket International Airport in the Thai South will be opened for services as of February 5, 2014, after its construction has been completed. Phuket Airport Director Prathuang Sornkhom made the announcement on Saturday, saying that the new terminal, aimed at relieving congestion at the Phuket Airport, is spacious, as it has a total of 1,320 square metres used for passenger check-in service, and it can provide service to 1,000 passengers per hour, has 10 check-in counter services and has a recreation area for international passengers. Prathuang revealed that the Phuket International Airport is also building more bays for commercial planes to park and, when completed by May 2015, the number of bays at the Phuket Airport will be increased to 25, from 15 currently, which will enable the airport to cater about 12.5 million international passengers annually, from 6.5 million now.
