Pineapple fair to be held this week

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, May 15 (TNA) - Prachuap Khiri Khan's Pranburi district, growing the most pineapple in Thailand will organise a 10-day pineapple fair, starting this Thursday to showcase various products made from the fruit. Also, organisers of the fair will give away four tonnes of pineapple free to visitors during the fair. Provincial governor Tawee Narissirikul invites people to visit the pineapple fair, which will be held in front of Pranburi district office. Presently, growing area of pineapple in the district is more than 500,000 rai and more than 10,000 growers could earn over six billion baht annually from selling the juicy fruit plus one billion baht per year from selling products made from it, said Mr. Tawee. The objective of organising the fair is to display pineapple species and processed products made from pineapple including pineapple soap and shower cream. An exhibition how pineapple was first brought and grown in Pranburi will be shown at the fair as well as cooking demonstrations of food made of pineapple such as cookie and ice cream. (TNA)
