PLN Hands Over CSR For Frontier District In Papua

Jayapura, Papua, Sept 18 (Antara) - The Sotta district of the regency of Merauke, Papua, received Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from state power utility company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) in the form of solar energy generating plants. The frontier district of Sotta which shares border with Papua New Guinea received 10 packages of SEHEN PLTS, a super efficient energy generating plants, PLN operating director Vickner Sinaga said . Sinaga said the aid for that district is part of CSR program of PLN for the province of Papua and Papua Barat. "So far the people living in the frontier area , the easternmost area of the country have never enjoyed electricity illumination service from PLN as it is too far from PLN`s networks ," he said in a news release issued here on Wednesday. He said PLN has a commitment to carry out electrification of all district areas in the country . Distribution of solar energy generating plants to interior areas that could not be covered by PLN networks is a solution to cope with the difficulties in implementing its commitment, he said. The program to bring modernity to the backward areas such as Sotta needs support from the regional administration, the legislative assembly , community leaders and religious leaders, he said. SEHEN PLTS, which was invented by Vickner Sinaga himself, has been used in various isolated and interior areas in East Nusatenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua and Papua Barat. Earlier this month, Sinaga received a token of appreciation from the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) for his invention of the application.
