PM To Deliver Keynote Address At "Fiqh Seminar On Obeying The Leader" In June
PETALING JAYA (Malaysia), May 22 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak is
scheduled to deliver his keynote address and open an "International Seminar:
Fiqh Obeying The Leader" from June 15.
Religious adviser to the Prime Minister, Dr Abdullah Md Zin said the
three-day seminar was aimed at discussing fiqh issues pertaining to relations
between the people and leader.
"The seminar will discuss the views of numerous ulama and Islamic
intellectuals and analyse the experiences of Arab nations in tackling the issue
of loyalty to leaders," he told a press conference here, Tuesday.
He said seven working papers would be tabled including 'Fiqh Obeying the
Leader' by Egypt's Al-Azhar University former chancellor Syeikh Prof Dr Umar
Hashim.
Palestine mufti Syeikh Ekrima Sa'id Sabri and Mecca's Masjidil Haram imam
Syeikh Maher Al-Mueaqly would table the working papers 'The Hope Of The Ummah In
The Leaders Of The Islamic World' and 'Adapting The Leadership of the Prophet in
National Adiminstration', respectively, he said.
Earlier, he witnessed the handing over of a sponsorship valued at RM3.5
million for the seminar from Naza Group director Zaleha Ismail to seminar
chairman Mohd Yusof Din.
The sponsorship included 600 Chevrolet Captiva cars which were made official
transportation in the seminar.
Abdullah said about 1,200 Malaysian and overseas participants including from
Sudan, Oman, Singapore and Brunei were expected to take part in the seminar
which was jointly organised by Smart Generation Association and MyKMU.net
Meanwhile, Naza Group Joint Executive chairman SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin said
the company sponsored the seminar following its commitment towards strengthening
the unity of Muslims in Malaysia.
"This is the role of a corporate body like Naza Group because our
involvement in the country needs to be more than just doing business," he
said.
