PM, DPM pay working visit to Thai Far South

NARATHIWAT, THAILAND, July 25 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan are visiting the Thai Far South on Monday to follow up updates in the region. Upon his arrival in Narathiwat Province on Monday morning, the Thai prime minister and deputy prime minister first visited an exhibition on measures having been implemented by local authorities to control the situation and to suppress security threats in the violence-plagued Thai Far South, as well as to restore peace and order and promote educational development in the troubled region. Prime Minister General Prayut and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit, who oversees national security, then held a meeting with local security units at a special task force unit in Muang District amid tight security. After the meeting, the prime minister, the deputy premier and their entourage went to Princess of Naradhiwas University to witness the presentation of title deeds of 800 plots of land on Budo-Sungai Padi Mountain to local residents. The Thai prime minister and deputy premier were also scheduled to meet with local government officials, including those of the Southern Border Province Administrative Center (SBPAC), and representatives of the private sector at Narathiwat's Provincial Hall on Monday afternoon to discuss economic and social development projects in the southernmost Thai region. The prime minister and the deputy premier will then return to Bangkok on Monday evening, ending his one-day working visit to the southern border Thai region. (TNA)
