PM GETS AU FAIT WITH PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The N.Altankhuyag PM assessed works of the World Bank /WB/ project on connecting 96 families and 8 organizations in 15th and 17th khoroo of Sukhbaatar district to the central heating and water system. The project manager Badamkhorol said everything is possible in technical term but the pipes get frozen in our cold winter. The PM said that, sinve the new government for reforms plans to re-plan ger districts and provide them with central heating and water by improving its infrastructure, all the experience, mistakes and achievements of the project are important. Some 86 families gave been connected to central heating and water paying only for their consumption but not an operational cost. The pipe get frozen because the families do not switch on power cables being afraid of high cost. The project unit is responsible for major pipes, the families--for maintenance and repairs of pipes gone into their gers and houses. Technically, a waste water is to be collected back in one point and absorbed into earth after being cleaned, however, the project cannot have this water absorbed completely. in this matter a Mayor of the UB city E.Bat-Uul promised to finance 117 million togrog from the city budget for cleaning facilities. The project is implemented by the WB, but the project's 1.2 billion togrog will be repaid by the Government of Mongolia. Land re-planning has not been for these 96 families who occupy 5.6 ha of land, making cost of new pipelines very high. Officials agreed that the people must settle more dense so as to make infrastructure network more efficient. The Prime Minister advised the project implementers to make plan and calculations accurately and to correct mistakes at additional finance from the WB. The the Prime Minister went to 28th khoroo of Songhinokhairkhan district. There he talked with members of "Good neighbors" union with 49 families who managed to get ready for land re-planning and to estimate all costs. B.Oyundelger
