PM invites China, Hong Kong to invest in Thailand's infrastructure projects

BANGKOK, June 14 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has invited business persons from China and Hong Kong to invest in water management plans and other new mega-infrastructure projects in Thailand, to be linked with those in other countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The invitation.was made on Thursday, when Yingluck received Chen Jingwei, Vice Chairman of the Economic Commission of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of Hong Kong's Chamber of Commerce in China, who paid a courtesy call on her in Bangkok. On the occasion, the prime minister said Thailand hopes Chinese and Hong Kong business operators will increase their investment in the Thai economy, especially in the sectors of renewable energy and processed agriculture. The prime minister acknowledged that her government offers incentives to foreign investors, including a cut in the corporate income tax from 30 per cent to 20 per cent. Chen then stressed that China and Hong Kong are ready to support economic development in Thailand and investment in ASEAN, especially with regard to the formation of the ASEAN Community (AC) by 2015, as Chinese and Hong Kong investors are confident in the potential of the Thai economy.
