PM Najib Conveys His Prayers For Families Of Passengers And Crew Of Indonesia's Hercules Aircraft

KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on Wednesday conveyed his prayers to the families of passengers and crew of the Indonesian Air Force's Hercules C-130 aircraft that crashed in Medan, Indonesia on Tuesday. "My thoughts and prayers are with the families & friends of the passengers and crew of Indonesia's C-130 aircraft that crashed in Medan yesterday," he said in his Twitter post Wednesday night. The Hercules aircraft which was carrying 122 people including 12 crew crashed at Jalan Letjen Jamin Ginting, Padang Bulan, Medan, North Sumatra, Tuesday. All passengers and crew were reported killed and dozens of civilians were also found dead under the rubble and wreckage. So far 142 bodies have been found while the search and rescue operation continues. The aircraft made in 1964 crashed at 11.48am local time, just two minutes after taking off from the Soewondo Air Force Base in Kota Medan, crashing into a row of shop houses, a spa and a traditional treatment centre. --BERNAMA
