PM Najib Receives Courtesy Call From UAE Foreign Affairs Minister

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak today received a courtesy call from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Affairs Minister, Sheikh Abdullah Zayed Al Nahyan at his official residence, Seri Perdana Complex, here today. Sheikh Abdullah who arrived at Seri Perdana (the prime minister's official residence) at 11am was received by Najib before the former signed the guest book. The Prime Minister and Sheikh Abdullah then held a 30-minute closed door discussion. Sheikh Abdullah who was accompanied by a number of senior officials from the country is on a two-day official visit to Malaysia since Friday. According to a statement from Wisma Putra (Foreign Ministry) Thursday, the visit would provide an excellent opportunity for Malaysia and UAE to renew friendship and discuss issues of mutual interest and areas of cooperation. This could further strengthen the already excellent relations between the two countries, the statement added. UAE is one of Malaysia's important trading partners in the Middle East with trade between the two countries totalling RM27.7 billion in 2013. -- BERNAMA
