PM orders strict measures to stop human trafficking, illegal fishing

BANGKOK, September 18 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Cha-o-cha urged all parties to seriously stop human trafficking and illegal fishing to boost international confidence in Thailand and to improve people’s life. Gen Prayut chaired a meeting on human trafficking and illegal fishing at Government House on Sept 18. Present there were deputy prime ministers and the Ministers of Defence, Interior, Foreign affairs and Justice. Apart from suppression on human trafficking and illegal fishing, authorities also had to improve people’s quality of life, the prime minister told the meeting. “I would like to praise and thank the deputy prime minister overseeing security affairs for having been supervising the issues since December last year and I appreciate all members of working groups who have worked hard and made progress in the solutions,” Gen Prayut said. He also referred to Pol Gen Chatchawal Suksomjit, permanent secretary for justice, and navy chief Adm Kraisorn Jansuwanit. The prime minister encouraged concerned authorities to tackle human trafficking and illegal fishing seriously and not to conspire with any influential people or corrupt officials involved in the crimes. Solutions to slavery in the fishing industry were already part of the national agendas, Gen Prayut said. (TNA)
