PM orders tight security for "Bike For Dad" cycling event

BANGKOK, November 11 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered subordinates to provide the public with the best conveniences and security for the upcoming "Bike For Dad" grand cycling event, set to be held simultaneously nationwide on December 11 to celebrate His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 88th birthday in 2015. Thai Government Spokesman Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told journalists, after the Cabinet's weeking meeting in Bangkok on November 10, that the prime minister has ordered concerned officials to do their best to ensure conveniences and safety, as the grand cycling event should be a pleasant moment for all people. The spokesman said over 520,000 people nationwide have already registered to participate in the "Bike For Dad" event. Meanwhile, Grisada Boonrach, Permanent Secretary for Interior reported that 456,738 people have registered for the activity in provincial areas, excluding Bangkok, including 255,561 males and 200,105 females. Up to November 10, Grisada stated, Thai provinces with the top five biggest number of registered people are Nakhon Ratchasima with 28,881 people, Sakon Nakhon with 15,446, Songkhla with 12,498, Chai Nat with 11,922 and Chiang Mai with 11,592.
