PM tests EV prototype, built by students

BANGKOK, Nov 25 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha tests driving an electric car prototype built by students of a vocational school in eastern Chon Buri province. The students from Sarahip Technical College brought the electric vehicle to Government House on Wednesday to coincide with a meeting of a committee on Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), a development scheme covering Chon Buri and other surrounding provinces. Prayut praised the students for their display of knowledge in engineering that he hoped for further efforts to create a Thai-made EV. His government has supported EV by providing incentives for foreign EV makers and encouraging customers to buy EV. The Wednesday's meeting focused on education development in EEC to produce skilled workers to meet the demand in targeted industries, according Deputy Education Minister Surachet Chaiwong. The ministry coordinated with other agencies to come up with a comprehensive education development plan that address human resource demands. Starting this weekend, science and technology fairs will be held at educational institutes in EEC provinces in order to promote learning of advanced technologies among students. (TNA)
