PM thanks China for understanding Thai politics

BANGKOK, April 25 (TNA) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has expressed his appreciation toward the Beijing Government for its understanding of Thai politics, according to a Thai government spokesman. Spokesman Dr. Yongyuth Mayalarp told a press conference that Xu Qiliang, vice-chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, who is now on a five-day official visit to Thailand from April 23-17, paid a courtesy call on General Prayut on Friday. During the meeting, General Prayut reiterated on strong bilateral relations between Bangkok and Beijing as well as thanking China for understanding of Thai politics, he said. General Prayut also said that Thailand always welcome Chinese tourists visiting the kingdom. According to Dr. Yongyuth, Xu told the Thai premier that he was confident the Thai government would move forward and achieve goals under its roadmap and that the country would overcome conflict and secure long-term stability. Both sides agreed on an increase of military cooperation, covering military exercise and defence technology development, said Dr. Yongyuth. General Prayuth also thanked the Beijing government for supporting Thai researchers and also developing communication channels at the level of military commanders, Dr. Yongyuth added. (TNA)
