PM urges Thai army to be prepared for AC

BANGKOK, August 29 (TNA) - Newly-appointed Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, who is also Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief, has suggested that the Royal Thai Army, like all other groups in the Thai society, be prepared for the formation of the ASEAN Community (AC) by 2015. While presenting prizes to outstanding army officers at the Royal Thai Army headquarters in Bangkok on Friday, General Prayuth also asked army officers to build younger generations to be proud of being Thai, as the Kingdom has a long history of spendid traditions and cultures. Besides, General Prayuth told army officers to be proud of serving the nation, to be loyal to the Thai monarchy and to stay united and to be a good model to other Thai people. The new prime minister acknowledged that the Royal Thai Army has displayed positive history since its founding over the past 105 years and every army personnel should keep behaving well and work hands in hands, as they are all the “army family”, insisting that army officers must continue working and solving problems confronting the nation.
