PM visits Thai East

PRACHIN BURI, THAILAND, March 9 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is visiting Prachin Buri Province in the Thai East on Thursday to follow up public health and herbal city projects. The prime minister first met medical personnel and local people at a family medicine clinic, which is part of the Public Health Ministry’s Primary Care Cluster Project launched to send doctors to provide local people with advice on basic sanitary and primary healthcare practices to prevent them from diseases and to reduce hospital treatment costs. The prime minister later went to the Prachin Ratsadorn Amroong School, where he met about 3,000 local people and was briefed by Governor Suriya Amornrojworawut on the provincial development projects. The prime minister, in return, briefed the audience on his government's works and policies, saying that the government has earmarked a state budget to fund the expansion of two sections of local roads connected with industrial estate zones and the Laem Chabang Port, from two to four lanes, as requested by the province. Before returning to Bangkok, the prime minister also visited Chaopraya Abhaibhubet Hospital to follow up progress in its development of the “Herbal City” Project to be a model of herbal use as alternative medicines to cut costs from imported medicines. Thailand has a variety of herbs, which is a strong point to develop domestic herbal medical programs. (TNA)
