PM visits Thai Northeast

ROI ET, THAILAND, August 24 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is paying a one-day visit to Roi Et Province in the Thai Northeast to follow up the implementation of his government's policies. Upon arrival in Roi Et on Wednesday morning, the prime minister met local government officials and representatives of the private sector at the Roi Et Rajabhat University, during which the “Roi Et 4.101 model” was proposed in order to strengthen the provincial economy and to generate more income for locals. Under the proposed strategy, Tung Kula Rong Hai rice production area will be developed as an economic development zone where science, technologies and innovations will be applied for improving rice production and adding the value of rice produce. Besides, Roi Et will be promoted to be a targeted tourist triangle, aimed to create a network of tourist attractions in the province. Agro-industries, including those on processed farm produce, as well as irrigation management and logistics to be linked with the East-West Economic Corridor are also part of the provincial development plan. The prime minister later met local people at the Thawatchai Reservoir in Thawatburi District, where he was briefed on a provincial project to build a public park at the reservoir for eco-tourism in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on the occasion of the 60th birthday anniversary of the Princess. The prime minister is scheduled to return to Bangkok on late Wednesday afternoon. (TNA)
