PM wants strict safety standards for boat trip

BANGKOK, July 15 (TNA) -- The Prime Minister thanked everyone involved in the successful retrieve of the last victim from the capsized Phuket tourist boat, assuring that all victims will be compensated. Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd, the government spokesman said that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha had thanked all Thai and Chinese rescuers as well as authorities who were involved in the successful retrieve of the last victim from the boat named Phoenix which sank in sea off Phuket. Attempts to bring out this last victims had taken several days. Lt Gen Sansern said the authoirities have identified the 45 bodies of victims that were retrieved earlier. 39 bodies have already been cremated in accordance with the wishes of their relatives while 7 have been sent back to China. Lt Gen Sansern cited the PM's concern over the incident and had ordered that all authorities must learn from this incident so that it will not be repeated. (TNA)
