PM writes song as New Year gift for Thais

BANGKOK, December 23 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha says he has written a song as a New Year gift for all Thais, aimed to communicate his government's stance on working for the public and national interests, while encouraging people to support national development. The prime minister told journalists after the Cabinet's weeking meeting on December 22 that the new song, the second one he has written for Thais, titled “Because You Are Thailand” represents his New Year gift for all the Thai people. Through the song, the prime minister said, he would like to see unity in the Thai society so that everyone joins hands and the nation can overcome obstacles and further progress. The Thai premier admitted that political opponents in the country strongly oppose his interim government; so, public cooperation is essential for national development. The Thai premier emphasized that he does not desire power, but last year's military intervention was necessary to save the country from deeper turmoil. Prime Minister General Prayut wrote and released his first song, “Returning Happiness to Thailand” just after taking over national administration from the previous government of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra on May 22, 2014.
