PM:APEC member economies view Thailand positively

BEIJING, CHINA, November 11 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha says he has told other member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) that the situation in Thailand has been inproving and all have mentioned positively about the Thai Kingdom. General Prayut, who takes part in this year's APEC Summit in Beijing from November 10-11, told Thai News Agency (TNA) that he met all APEC leaders, including US President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a dinner reception in Beijing on Monday evening (local time), when the issues were raised. General Prayut, who is also chief of the Thai army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), said he told the regional leaders, who were concerned over Thailand's previous situation, that national reform has been carried on in the country amid the improving situation. The Thai leader revealed he informed the US president that his government will do the best for achieving national reform, which will be followed by a new general election in the foreseeable future, while telling the Russian president that order had been restored in Thailand. The Thai premier stated he told all the APEC leaders that tourism atmosphere in Thailand has also been improving and invited people in their economies to visit Thailand. According to the Thai prime minister, the Japanese and Chinese leaders told him that they plans to lift travel advisories against Thailand, in which their citizens were told to take precautions when visiting past protests venues in Thailand. On bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, the Thai leader said he and the Chinese leaders agreed to cooperate on boosting connectivity between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Thailand, through government-to-government dual-track railway projects and medium-speed rail projects. On his meeting with executives of Chinese state enterprises and Chinese business operators, the Thai premier noted they expressed interest in setting up rubber processing factories in Thailand, which would add values to Thai nutural rubber and boost income of local rubber growers, with business deals, if concluded, to be complied with the Thai government's rules and regulations.
