PM:Cyber security law is necessary in Thailand

BANGKOK, January 28 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha insists that a cyber security law is necessary to prevent the abuse of social media to create unrest in Thailand. But the Thai leader assures that the new law will not violate the general public's rights. The prime minister told journalists on Wednesday that the new law, which is being drafted by Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) and will be promulgated after the new digital ministry is established, would allow authorities concerned to act conveniently and quickly because incitements to create unrest have always existed in the online society. The prime minister explained that the new law is not aimed at uncovering anyone's secrets and privacy remains, but concerned authorities can work faster without having to wait for arrest warrants like before.
