PM:Government carries on peace process in Thai Far South

BANGKOK, April 22 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha affirms that his government has proceeded with peace talks in the violence-plagued Thai Far South, along with local development projects and law enforcement. The prime minister stressed on the policy while speaking to journalists at Bangkok's Government House on April 21. The prime minister noted that concerned ministers have visited the Thai Deep South on a weekly basis. The prime minister pointed out that violent unrest in the troubled Thai Deep South has resulted from many factors, including conflicts, personal disagreements and quarrels. "The government tries to promote two-curricular teachings, which have been cooperated by most parties, but some parties adhere to conventional education and problems remain", said the Thai premier. The Thai prime minister emphasised that the government's solutions to violence in the southernmost Thai region are acceptable to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Regarding the recent replacement of Lieutenant General Nakrob Boonbuathong, secretary to the Thai government's southernmost peace negotiation team, the prime minister explained that it was time for a change, proposed by Army Chief General Theerachai Nakvanich, because Lieutenant General Nakrob had played the role for years.
