PM:Int'l community is confident in Thailand

BANGKOK, October 1 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha says that the international community is confident in Thailand and he is proud to represent the Kingdom to attend the UN General Assemby 2015 in New York. Speaking to journalists before departing New York for home on September 30 (local time), Prime Minister General Prayut acknowledged that the international community has also gained better understanding about his interim government after his participation in the 70th UN General Assembly. The prime minister noted that, while being apparently confident in Thailand, the world community is also monitoring whether his government is following its roadmap. According to the prime minister, he then informed foreign government leaders and American respected people that Thailand must have a new Constitution first under the democratic system and the new Charter needs to be written based on brainstormed opinions from several sectors and Thai norms and then approved by the majority of Thai voters before a new general election is held. Expressing his satisfaction with his participation in the 70th UN General Assemble on behalf of Thailand, the prime minister revealed that he met several foreign government leaders for the first time, most of them are those of developing countries, and invited them to visit Thailand, while many of the international leaders expressed their sympathy over a deadly bomb blast in Bangkok in mid August. Besides, he met US President Barrack Obama and several business executives and told them that he was pleased to learn that trade between the United States and Thailand would continue, informing them that investment by US business operators in Thailand is now the third and is “very high” and what the Thai government will do is to amend several laws to further facilitate foreign investors in the Thai economy and to create equal quality. Accompanied by his entourage, including his wife, Naraporn Chan-ocha, the Thai prime minister, who visited the United States from September 24-30 to attend the UN General Assembly 2015, is scheduled to arrive home on Thursday night (Bangkok time).
